Hero x Black History Month

Skin is universal. Black is beautiful. We’re proud to celebrate Black History Month by collaborating with an artist who captures her culture in her work. This bag represents a way to carry that culture with you each time you go through your skincare routine.

About Chibia Ulinwa

Chibia is a violinist, vocalist, music educator, and lettering/calligraphy artist based in Portland OR. When she is not creating and teaching music or curating letters, Chibia loves to cook, drink tea, hang out with her cat Bobbi, and travel.

Q: What was your inspiration in designing the bag?

"I was really inspired by the versatility and beauty in black hair, especially with the depiction of black hair being referred to as untamed or unprofessional in many work spaces. There is so much beauty in the way our hair molds, the shared experience of 'wash day', the growth it took to honor and accept our hair as our crown, the community we build getting our hair done at a salon. There is so much culture surrounding our hair and it deserves to be celebrated!"
