About Isabela’s Design
“This takes inspiration from the past tradition of Puerto Rican lace embroidery (mundillo)... Included are motifs of a palm tree, coconuts, dominoes, coquí, and patterns from breeze blocks seen throughout houses in the island. I included various sizing of dots as a nod to the vejigante masks, and for the charm, I illustrated a rooster since they are spotted all over the island.”
